Registrar launches new service to drive leads to local businesses.

Local advertising companies such as Marchex and ReachLocal have a new heavyweight competitor: GoDaddy.

The domain name registration giant today announced the launch of AdSpace, an online advertising service to help local businesses start generating leads online.

AdSpace is similar to services offered by competitors in this space. Customers provide some information about their business including description, logo, address, services provided, etc. Go Daddy uses this to create a hosted landing page. Then Go Daddy creates search advertising campaigns on Google Adwords with the goal of driving traffic to that landing page.

AdSpace tracks all prospect information including calls and clicks. It even records the calls so business owners can review them to see how well its employees are turning leads into sales.

The service starts at about $50 per month.
