Aftermarket.com Offers Private Domain Name Brokerage

Company officially moves into domain brokerage services.

Aftermarket.com is now officially offering private domain name brokerage services.

The company has recently sent solicitations about domains including WorldTradeCenter.com.

But today the group sent out an email announcing its private brokerage services. It includes a list of some of the domains it has recently gotten under exclusive contract to sell. Some of the domains include UrgentCare.com, Proposition.com, BankruptcyLaw.com, and Accomplish.com.

You can inquired about the new service at brokers (at) Aftermarket.com

Private domain brokerage services have long been offered by competitors Sedo and Moniker/Snapnames as well as many individual brokers.

I’ve reached out to Aftermarket.com to understand their sales commissions. Sales commissions are typically 15%-20% depending on the name.

French Word for Wedding Domain Name Gets $130,000 Bid

March 3, 2011Aftermarket.com, Domain Sales, Domaining, Domainnamewire, sedo, SnapNamesComments Off on French Word for Wedding Domain Name Gets $130,000 Bid

Six figure offer made for French language .com domain name.

Mariage.com — a typo of Marriage but more importantly the French word for Wedding — has received a 92,000 EUR bid at Sedo. That’s about $130,000 USD. An auction for the domain name ends March 8.

Elsewhere in the domain auction world Snapnames is running its March feature auction. It includes primarily domains related to travel and entertainment. A few domains already have bids but the auction doesn’t end until March 8 as well.

Finally, Aftermarket.com appears to have had a successful auction today. It’s the first live auction on the “new” Aftermarket.com platform. According to numbers tallied at Domain Name News, the auction sold 33 of 64 domains for a total of $194,038.

The top sale was Coed.com at $45,000. I think I can speak for everyone when I say it’s nice to see this name sell. I think it’s been through every company’s live auctions at least once. Aftermarket.com finally found the right buyer at an acceptable price.

Aftermarket.com Is Alive

November 8, 2010Aftermarket.com, Domain Sales, Domaining, Domainnamewire, thought convergenceComments Off on Aftermarket.com Is Alive

It’s alive!

Aftermarket-comThought Convergence’s Aftermarket.com has been reborn today.

I wrote a preview about some of the new site’s features back in August. The site works like a number of other domain name marketplaces, but has a few twists thrown in.

I think the domain name verification system through sister company DomainTools will help maintain marketplace integrity. As Michael Berkens opined yesterday, Aftermarket.com could set itself apart from many other marketplaces by enforcing both the buyer and seller agreements to make sure deals are completed.

When you look at a listing there’s a drop down box to see the whois information directly from DomainTools. There’s also a user feedback system that should improve integrity.

Aftermarket.com is entering a crowded field. In addition to integrity of the marketplace, the other big requirement for success will be distribution of listings beyond the core site. I suspect we’ll hear some news about that soon.

Aftermarket.com Gears Up For Launch

September 20, 2010Aftermarket.com, Domain Sales, Domaining, DomainnamewireComments Off on Aftermarket.com Gears Up For Launch

New ideas come to online domain sales.

AftermarketAftermarket.com is getting closer to its relaunch as an online marketplace for buying and selling domain names. In general the marketplace will be similar to what you have come to expect from Sedo and Afternic, but with some twists:

Private auctions – you can hold your own private auction with up to 100 guests

Domain data – pull DomainTools data directly into your listing

Escrow – escrow will be handled through Escrow.com

Aftermarket Parking – Aftermarket.com will offer a parking option directly to sellers. I suspect this will be similar to Sedo and Afternic including a notice on the domain name that it’s for sale. It will be interesting to see how this is branded compared to sister company TrafficZ.

Aftermarket.com was born as a live domain name platform that was used by both sister company DomainTools and third-party sellers, but a return to live domain name auctions is not currently part of Aftermarket.com’s game plan.

Aftermarket.com Gearing Up for Launch

TCI is working on relaunching its aftermarket business.

AftermarketThought Convergence, parent company of TrafficZ, is working on a formal launch of its domain name marketplace Aftermarket.com.

Thought Convergence started using the Aftermarket.com domain name this time two years ago. Since then it has used it primarily as a service for its own and third party event auctions. The company bought the domain name for $125,000 at a Moniker auction in 2008.

You’ll find very little information at Aftermarket.com about what the company’s plans for the site are, but you can submit your email address to be notified when the site launches. Will we see another full time marketplace with the likes of Sedo and Afternic?
