Political Attack Video Associates Candidate with Bob Parsons

Attack juxtaposes conservative candidate with “porn domain name seller”.

A political attack ad by a group known as “Coalition for Iowa Values” is going after an Iowa Republican congressional primary candidate by associating him with Go Daddy’s Bob Parsons.

The ad goes after Rob Gettemy, whom Parsons is supporting in the primary, by juxtaposing Gettemy’s supposed “values” against video of Go Daddy girls shedding their clothes.

The video is titled “Who’s Your Daddy”. It labels Parsons a “porn domain name seller” and says “Maybe someone should tell Rob that Congress has enough people with GoDaddy.com values”.

Of course, this isn’t the first time a conservative group has gone after Parsons. It has given the company a lot of free press, such as when Morality in Media sent out a press release urging parents to view the company’s Super Bowl commercials before they aired.

The ad also goes after Gettemy for profiting from his religious t-shirt company IM4JC. Gettemy registered the domain name IM4JC.com at GoDaddy but it has expired. Gettemy used GoDaddy’s domain ownership protection product, so the domain name hasn’t been deleted. Hey Rob, give Bob a call to get your domain name back up.

Go Daddy CEO Bob Parsons Buys Cher’s House

Bob Parsons buys house at auction for $8.72 million.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Go Daddy founder and CEO Bob Parsons just bought a house in Hawaii owned by singer Cher. The house went up for auction, and Parsons was the winning bidder at $8.72 million.

The house description isn’t bad, if I do say so myself:

The Hawaiian property, at the Four Seasons’ Hualalai resort, includes a main house flanked by four one-bedroom bungalows. Singer-actress Cher bought the 0.76-acre property in December 2004 for $2.9 million and last year began building the house but never lived in it.

You can see pictures of the house here (go to slides 10 and 11).

The only problem I see with the house is that you can’t bike from Arizona to Hawaii. But I’m sure Parsons can buy another motorcycle to keep in Hawaii.

Hey Bob, if you ever need a house sitter, just give me a ring.

Go Daddy Revenue Tops $750 Million

A look behind the numbers at the world’s biggest domain name registrar.

Bob Parsons has more to
smile about than just the
Go Daddy Girls.

Yesterday I wrote about Go Daddy’s revenue for 2009, and I extrapolated that the company grossed $600 million this year. That’s an incredible number — but the real number is even higher.

In his opening remarks at the Go Daddy holiday party this past weekend, CEO Bob Parsons announced that the company has topped $750 million in revenue in 2009. This is for a company that was founded only a decade ago and didn’t take a dollar of venture capital.

Here are some other key statistics for the largest domain name registrar in the world:

Employees: Go Daddy employs more than 2,400 people, and is still actively hiring. About 65% of the work force — nearly 1,600 — work in customer service.

Resellers: The company has about 32,000 active reseller accounts.

Web hosting: Go Daddy is hosting more than 3.8 million web sites.

Domain names: Go Daddy registers a domain name every second of every day. Its main registrar GoDaddy has about 33.5 million domains registered. Its reseller arm Wild West Domains has about 3.3 million domains registered, according to RegistrarStats.

Go Daddy Goes Big with $3 Million Holiday Party and Record Donations

Go Daddy throws big party and makes major charitable contributions.

GoDaddyGo Daddy CEO Bob Parsons certainly lives by the “go big or go home” mantra. As evidence, his company topped last year’s $2 million holiday party with a $3 million party this year. The event was held last Saturday night at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Among the notable guests were boxer Muhammad Ali, a friend of Bob Parsons and Shane Tews, VP VeriSign Global Public Policy & Govt. Relations.

The company is reporting 22% revenue growth in 2009. If the numbers published in Inc. Magazine earlier this year are correct, this would mean GoDaddy’s 2009 revenues topped $600 million.

But GoDaddy didn’t just spend money on itself — it topped last year’s $1.7 million in charity giving. At Saturday night’s party, the company announced a major gift to the Danica Patrick GoDaddy.com Domestic Violence Center.

In a year where flat was the new growth, it’s good to see a company in the domain industry continue its upward trajectory.
