Oversee.net CEO Jeff Kupietzky talks about next month’s DOMAINfest Global conference.

DomainSponsor’s DOMAINfest Global conference returns to Los Angeles next month with a few changes. I interviewed Oversee.net CEO Jeff Kupietzky (Oversee is parent company of DomainSponsor) to learn more about the conference. DOMAINfest is typically the largest domainer-focused domain conference of the year, drawing in 600+ people. In this episode of DNW radio, you’ll learn:

-Why the show changed venues this year
-If DomainSponsor plans to hold a second conference in 2010, and where
-How the Snapnames problem affects planning for the show
-Who will be judging the PitchFest and Launchfest competitions
-What to expect at the party at The Getty

You can listen to the show below, or read the transcript if you’d prefer.

Note: I realize the audio of me on the radio show is low. I’m working to resolve this problem in future recordings.

PITCHfest and LAUNCHfest Come to DOMAINfest

Two business competitions coming to DOMAINfest conference.

DOMAINfestOversee.net wants to know, “what would you do to develop Planners.com?”

That’s just one of ten domain names contestants in DOMAINfest Global’s LAUNCHfest can submit a development plan for. Contestants submit a plan for developing one of the domain names, and pitch it to a panel of expert judges during the January contest. The winner will get to go through with their plans by leasing or buying the domain name. If they opt to lease the domain, they won’t have to pay for the first year of lease payments.

DOMAINfest will also feature PITCHfest, where entrepreneurs can present their innovative product to a panel of judges and show attendees. This is a great way for any company releasing a new internet marketing or domain product to get an early boost. It reminds me of the popular DEMO and TechCrunch 50 conferences. A winner will be selected by the judges and audience using real time text message voting.

The conference included a similar program at its January 2007 conference called FastPitch.

Oversee.net Goes Back to the Playboy Mansion for DFG 2010

Oversee.net announces party plans for DFG 2010.

Earlier today Oversee.net announced that it will hold its finale party for DOMAINfest Global in January at the Playboy Mansion for the second year in a row. The event will benefit enny McCarthy’s Generation Rescue Foundation. This year’s mansion party has been talked about all year, so it’s sure to be a hit again. I enjoyed the party at Universal Studios, too, so hopefully they can match that experience.

As a frequent reader of affiliate blogs, I noticed that a lot of affiliate companies are holding charity parties at the Playboy Mansion throughout the year. Sure seems like the Playboy Mansion is whoring itself out a lot these days. (Sorry, couldn’t help it.)

DOMAINfest Global tickets are $1095 through December 24. It’s a great value for what has become the biggest show in the domain name industry. Last year more than 600 people attended the event. This year’s event is moving to a new venue, the five star Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.

Zappos CEO to Keynote DOMAINfest Global

September 23, 2009Domain Services, domainfest global, Domaining, Domainnamewire, domainsponsor, Oversee.net, tony hsiehComments Off on Zappos CEO to Keynote DOMAINfest Global

Keynote speaker announced for DOMAINfest Global.

Tony HsiehTony Hsieh, CEO and Co-Founder of Zappos.com, will be the keynote speaker for DOMAINfest Global 2010. The event will take place January 26-28, 2010 in Santa Monica, California.

This is a good choice for the show, given Hsieh’s background in internet marketing and domain names. Hsieh founded the popular banner exchange network LinkExchange, which he sold to Microsoft for $265 million. He also understands the value of a category killer domain name, as Zappos.com paid $4.9 million for Clothes.com. Zappos entered into an agreement to be acquired by Amazon.com for $850 million earlier this year.

If you plan to attend the event, early bird registration rates are available through the end of September for $895. Prices increase $200 on October 1.

Last year, more than 600 people from 26 countries attended the event, making it the largest domain name conference of the year.
