TRAFFIC Extended Auction Ends Thursday

October 27, 2010Domain Sales, Domaining, Domainnamewire, latonas.com, rick latona, traffic conferenceComments Off on TRAFFIC Extended Auction Ends Thursday

Extended domain name auction ends tomorrow.

The extended TRAFFIC conference domain name auction run by Latonas.com ends Thursday at 11:15 EDT.

So far four domain names have received bids: Pisos.co (apartments/flats in Spanish) at $15,000, Coche.co (cars in Spanish) at $9,950, Piso.co at $9,950, and AutoReply.com at $1,500.

The extended auction also includes two domain names that appeared sold in the live domain name auction, Shock.com and BVI.com/.co. Latonas believes the bids for these two domain names were fraudulent. Shock.com originally “sold” for $200,000 at the live auction, and BVI.com and BVI.co sold for $110,000.

There are over 750 domain names in the extended auction. The inventory is relatively heavy with .co, .cm, and .tv domain names. A few of the names that look interesting to me at starting bids include:

Physical.com and Physical.co $35,000
MadridJobs.com $500
SanFrancisco.co $400

Rick Latona Domain Sales Newsletter Switches to Auction Format

April 8, 2010Domain Sales, Domaining, Domainnamewire, latonas.com, rick latonaComments Off on Rick Latona Domain Sales Newsletter Switches to Auction Format

Latona shakes up newsletter — no more fixed priced domain names.

With 15,000 subscribers, Rick Latona’s domain name sales newsletter is the most popular newsletter for selling domain names. Today Latona’s company announced a big change: it will no longer sell domain names for fixed prices. Instead, domains will be auctioned off on Latonas.com.

People can still submit domain names with a price, and the price will become the reserve price for the domain. Auctions will last 24 hours.

In a letter to subscribers, the company stated that there will also be more transparency with this move:

Also new is complete transparency. Now everyone will know what we are selling or aren’t selling. Everyone will know what they are getting for their names. Those who sell their names will know that they are getting exactly what their names are worth.

To kick off the new auction format, the first newsletter includes 120 names from the company’s own inventory, all offered starting at $1 with no reserve.

Some of the domains starting at $1 are Footballcards.net, ePayments.com, Crackhouses.com, Gymnasiums.com, and TempLabor.com. You could see some fantastic deals in the next 24 hours.

Latonas.com Domain Name Auction Postponed

January 22, 2010Domain Sales, Domaining, Domainnamewire, latonas.com, rick latonaComments Off on Latonas.com Domain Name Auction Postponed

Auction postponed due to online bidding problems.

The Latonas.com live domain name auction at TRAFFIC in Las Vegas has been postponed due to technical difficulties. The auction will be run Saturday at 10 am PST.

Attendance at the auction was higher than many recent domain name events. However, the online Latonas.com system lagged the in room bidding. About an hour into the auction Rick Latona announced that it was necessary to postpone auction.

That may be disappointing for on-room buyers, but Latona pointed out that he has an obligation to his sellers, who may not get top dollar for their domains without online bidders.

The live auction will probably take place on an alternative platform, to be announced later on RickLatona.com.

Rick Latona Puts AEIOU.com Up for Sale

AEIOU.com among the domains for sale at this week’s live domain auction.

Rick Latona Auctions released its final inventory for this week’s TRAFFIC conference auction in Las Vegas. Lot #1180 may look familiar: AEIOU.com.

This is the domain name Rick Latona used for his minisite development service, which he closed down last year. It can be yours for a reserve range of $40,000-$50,000.

Here are a few domain names in the auction that I like upon first glance:

Motivating.com – $3,000-$4,000 – a no brainer for a motivational speaker. Perhaps Joseph McClendon III should bid on this one.

Lemons.com $30,000-$40,000 – I don’t know if it will sell in this market, but this is a great domain.

CatFood.com $50,000-$75,000 – Would be brilliant for a cat food company (not an e-commerce site).

This auction will be the first to use the new Latonas.com online bidding interface. Previously, Rick Latona Auctions used the third party service Proxibid for online bidding.

Experience a New Auction Platform and Help Charity

December 16, 2009domain auction, Domain Sales, Domaining, Domainnamewire, latonas.com, rick latona, whyparkComments Off on Experience a New Auction Platform and Help Charity

Charity domain name auction underway.

The WhyPark charity auction is now live, and I can think of a couple good reasons to participate.

First is that all auction proceeds go to charity. For me, December is a month of giving. Although I donate to charities throughout the year, my wife and I are sure to make our big donations before the end of the year. In this auction, the person who places the single highest bid in the entire auction gets to choose the charity that will receive all proceeds.

Second, you get to try out a brand new domain name auction platform at Latonas.com. It’s in beta, so go easy on it. (For some reason, many domainers don’t understand what “beta” means, so Rick took a risk by putting this out there.) But my first impressions are very positive. It looks upscale and each domain gets its own page that includes stats.

The auction ends this Thursday Friday (U.S. time).
